DAISY and NIMAS Conversion
The DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System) is a
technical standard for the electronic publication which
brings together text, audio and images into a single
accessible, navigable digital talking book. It is a new file
format based on an ANSI NISO standard and the text portions
of it are referred to as DTBook, an XML standard coordinated
by DAISY Consortium and the Library of Congress' National
Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS).
The Non-profit DAISY Consortium is promoting DAISY XML
standards all over the world. Apart from all of the features
of an audio publication the Daisy format also includes the
benefits of full text, allowing navigation, as well as
search and find features and the ability to add bookmarks
and footnotes.
